This week a group of Year 2 boys, represented the school at the Great Read. This is a wonderful reading event that is hosted by St. Christopher's School, they invite a limited number of schools to send a team of six to take part. It takes place after school and the children in the team are expected to do a considerable amount of reading of specific books in preparation for the event, therefore we have been planning for this since before the Easter holidays. The school hall at St Christopher's is decorated around a reading theme, Roald Dahl this year and the 'sorting hat' selects the children to make up teams from a mixture of schools. It's seen as quite an honour to be invited to take part and our boys did really well ,answering the many questions on the books they'd read. James also recited a poem around the theme of 'Reading,' with great delivery and expression. The boys also were given a treat of meeting the author Kes Gray who was there to sign his books and entertain the children.
