It was a rather wet day to be getting in the minibus and going somewhere but fortunately we were off with four year 5 boys to the Epsom College Maths Challenge; an indoor event. There were eleven other strong teams at the event representing a good range of the local prep schools. Our boys made the most of the warm up questions while waiting for the event to begin and once under way, put in impressive scores in the first two rounds (based around family tree puzzles and pentominoes). After the break, with pupils fuelled by cookies and juice, the final relay event involved answering questions sequentially and sending answers all about the large hall. Once the scores were finally checked over, unfortunately Priory were not victorious, though were were not far off the pace. The boys did themselves proud and impressed the other staff (and Mr Jeens) with their problem solving and team work. Our thanks to Epsom College and their maths department for hosting the event.
