We provide a sensitive and caring atmosphere, with an ideal pupil-to-teacher ratio which allows us to give each child individual attention, and help him to reach his full potential. We place strong emphasis on the three core subjects: literacy, numeracy and science. Teachers listen to children reading every day, and daily reading homework is given – parental support is seen as crucial to the boys’ progress.
Individual class-teachers teach most subjects, but as boys progress through the department, they also receive specialist teaching in games, PE, art and music. During the day the emphasis is mainly on developing literacy and numeracy skills. However, regular outings to carefully selected places of educational interest help broaden boys’ horizons and enhance the curriculum.
Outside the classroom, boys are encouraged to take part in activities such as to play football, chess, computers, art, speech and drama. They can also involve themselves further in music by learning an instrument and being in the Pre-Preparatory Choir.
At certain times of the year, Reception boys also visit our ever-popular Woodland School where they take part in a variety of Woodland activities, designed to enhance their learning by gradually building up their skills and confidence of working and playing in a natural environment. Dressed in their waterproofs and wellies, the boys enjoy the experience of collecting leaves, splashing in puddles and generally investigating!
Joining our school - Places still available for our Reception 2016 class and admissions for September 2017 are now open.
We know that choosing the right school for your son is very important and we believe that visiting schools personally will be invaluable in helping you make the right decision.
We therefore encourage you to visit the school either during one of our Open Events or for an individual tour. Open events are held throughout the year where tours of the School are given to see the activities in progress and there is then the opportunity to meet the Headmaster. Our next Open Events are:
Open Morning: Saturday 14th May 10am. Come and see why we are consistently rated outstanding.
Pop-In Morning: Friday 25th November. Come and see the cshool in action.
Having attended an Open Event or had a tour of the school, to apply for your child to come to Priory Preparatory School in September 2017, you will need to complete a registration form and send this together with the £50 registration fee to the Admissions Manager, Su Brailey who will then arrange a Taster Session for your child giving them the opportunity to spend time with their future class.
If you are interested interested in applying for a place, please email or phone the Admissions Manager, 01737 366 942 who will be delighted to help.
